South West England
The South West of England is a rural area with beautiful coastal and inland scenery. With the warmest climate in Britain and top visitor attractions it is the UK’s favourite holiday destination.
The region extends between the English Channel to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the north. The 700 miles of coastline include top surfing beaches, fantastic rock and hundreds of pretty coves and fishing harbours.
The largest cities in the region are Bristol and Plymouth; both vibrant modern cities with interesting maritime pasts to discover. You will also find the famous city of Bath in the South West, where you can visit the Roman Baths and take in the Georgian architecture.
The region has a strong artistic, musical and literary heritage with the Tate and Barbara Hepworth museums in St Ives and Britain’s best-known music festival at Glastonbury. Thomas Hardy, Virginia Woolf and Jane Austen all based novels in this area, making it a magical place to visit.
